More Troops

http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1865823,00.html

The Pentagon is planing on sending three out of four combat brigades in to Afghanistan by summer, which will be about 20,000 Troops. This is because there has been a spike in the resurgence of the Taliban. I feel that the United States Should of kept there focus in Afghanistan instead of heading to Iraq to fight an endless war with no point. The United States pretty much forgot why they when to the Middle East they when to stop terrorism. Since moving there focus from Afghanistan to Iraq they have created more terrorist than ever. I feel that it is a good move on the government to send more Troops to Afghanistan because that is were they are needed. That is were Osama Bin Laden is or was. Now no one has a clue. We will see were the country put its interest in money or safety.

crazy world

http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1863679,00.html

This world is so crazy! This story is about a 17 year old boy who walks into a gym in Tracy, Calif. with just his boxers on and a chain wrap on his leg. The boy who name was not released said, "Don't let them get me." The boy was held captive for almost a year. They found the two alleged kidnapers on was a Girl Scout leader with four children. I can't believe how many sick people there are out in this world. To hurt a child in that way for over a year is barbaric. I feel that child abusers should get bigger sentences those murders. It beyond comprehension how these people think of doing things like this? just the other day I was looking online and I seen that there were thirty register sex offenders in my area code. The sad part was eighty percent of them were child abusers. I feel that as American we need to step up the laws on this type of crime to in sure that these types of people stay off the streets

prop 8

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/11/06/hostin.qanda/index.html

The story was about same sex marriage in the state of California. The state voted and won to turn over the law that same sex marriage was legal. I feel that is a good thing, because it keep the sanctity of marriage in tact. I believe that marriage should be between one man and one woman. I don't have anything against a homosexual people or any other people I just feel that marriage should be the way that I believe god made it. I know there is a lot of opinions out there and issues homosexual couples go threw because they are not married, but I just don't believe in marriage between two people of the same sex. I have no problem with the way people live there lives because we live in the United Sates of America and people have the right to choose for themselves. I feel that this institution should stand the way it is.

placebo

http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/10/30/ep.doctors.prescribe.placebos/index.html
this story that I looked up today I was shocked about what it was about. the story focuses on doctors giving there patients placebos instead of real medication. I find this really shocking . If i had pain the money for the medication I better get something that works. when I keep on reading I found that when they do give them most of the time they are aspirin. I take aspirin every day, and when I go to doctor I don't want more of it I want to find out what is wrong with me. I think that the people that come to the hospital every week because they are a little tired or they think that there dying of some illness they found on the internet. I feel that I doctors think nothing is wrong with someone they should just send them home, and people that are really sick they should find what wrong and take care of them.

tired of the numbers

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27333285/

this story is about a suicide car bomber in Baghdad. I'm so tired of seeing the numbers on the newspapers of how many people died in car explosions and in other attacks that happen in Iraq. I want the all the troop from every country that is over in Iraq to go home as safely as possible. when I see all the numbers in the headlines of news stories every week I feel really desensitised about the lives of are troops and the Iraq citizens. I believe that life is worth a great amount, and the goverments need to figure out a solution to the problem of this Iraq war quickly. I feel the longer we stay in Iraq the worse the problem is going to be with ramdom or planed acts of violence of hard working troops, and the people of Iraq.

That One

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/08/campbell.brown.that.one/index.html

This story was about race-baiting. this is when either a candidate or the party it running for uses words or phrases to implicate racist thoughts. In the article it talks about Sen. John McCain calling Sen. Barack Obama, Barack "Hussein"Obama, but I'm going to focus on the part were they talk about the things he said in the recent presidential debate. I feel the reporter of the story was right that we as a people need to use are head when we read or hear some things.
McCain said, It was an energy bill on the floor of the senate, loaded down with goodies. Billions for the oil companies. And it was sponsored by Bush and Cheney. You know who voted for it? Might never know. That one." Some people have been in a uproar about the statement "that one." I feel it was very disrespectful, but far from racist. It would make no sense to me for McCain to say a racist statement on television. I feel that would be the worst mistake he could make in his road to the white house. I think people need to focus less on on the racial aspects of the race and look into what the issue are.

Pirates

http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/africa/10/01/somalia.piracy.ap/index.html

this story is about pirates hijacking a of the Ukrainian cargo ship MV Faina  which is carrying 33 Soviet-made T-72 tanks.
I think that it's amazing that there are still pirates out there in the world. The pirates in this story are no small time criminals. I feel that in takes a lot of planning and weapons to take over a ship that size. I herd of people hijacking cruse ships and other smaller sailboats, but never ships this size. These pirates are no Captain Jacks, They are coming on to ships willing to kill people and get what they want at all cost. I feel that the United States is doing a good job of keeping the pirates on the ship and not letting them unload the heavy weapons off the ship. I'm wondering why is there better protection for ship carrying such dangerous weapon and machines. this Area of the world is were a lot of money for terrorism comes from. I think that with better security in the water that less of this kind of actions will happen.

shocking fall

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26885773/

this story is about a man that was suicidal and was on top of a ledge and the police came and shot a non lethal weapon and he fell to his death.
I think the police use non lethal weapons to much. sometimes they are lethal and can kill or serious injure people. the person in the story was not in any danger of hurting other people. I feel the police could of talked the man down from the railing he was on. or the could of brought a therapist or some other professional in to get the man down from the railing and help him out.
In some situations I believe that non lethal weapons should be used in a lot a situation when they feel that are in any danger at all from a suspect.
To me the situation at hand was handled wrong by the police, and they should have more training on the weapons they use.

Saggign and Bagging

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26759466/from/ET/?gt1=43001

In Rivera Beach, Fla. a judge decided that a law that banned sagging pants is unconstitutional. This came after a teenage spent a night in jail for having his pants too low while he was riding his bike. I feel that the judge, Paul Moyle was right when he said the law was unconstitutional. What are the police and law makers going to do next? I feel that it is just an attempt to standardize and control how people dress and live there lives. I my self don't like to sag my pants it's not comfortable. This is America we can wear what we want to wear, if I want to be told what to wear I will travel back in time and go to China. If this was really a crime then half the people in the United States should be put in jail for what they wear.

Brady out

I got my story from ESPN.com.
New England's Quarterback Tom Brady will miss the entire NFL football season this year with knee surgery. Brady got injured by a hit to the knee by cheif's saftey Bernard Polloard in the first quarter of the game in the win over Kansas City. This most valuable player will be miss by the Patriots, who were looking toward a title fun this year. Now the team hopes rest on the shoulder of Matt Cassel their back up quarterback who has never started a game for the Patriots. Cassel played for the University of Southern California and was drafted in the fourth round by the Patriots. The Patriots are looking hope full too continue winning this season with the quarterback the have. offensive lineman Matt Light said, "I expect casssel to do his job, and that's the same thing he expects form each one of us. " we will have to see how the team fights it out with there leader down for the season.
